MCTF Issues 2008 Annual Report
Obama Support for Jones Act Highlighted

A campaign pledge of support for the Jones Act has earned President Barack Obama the cover spot on the 2008 Annual Report of the Maritime Cabotage Task Force.  In August 2008, then-candidate Obama declared:

"America needs a strong and vibrant U.S.-flag Merchant
Marine ... That is why you ... can continue to count on
me to support the Jones Act ..."

The MCTF's primary focus in 2008 was to educate Presidential candidates and their campaigns on the importance of the U.S. maritime industry and cabotage laws.

In 2008, the MCTF continued to be involved in numerous legislative and regulatory issues, which are discussed in the Annual Report along with the MCTF's look ahead to 2009.
